Agric journalists honour Ogbeh, Dangote and others at annual conference

Journalists covering the agriculture sector of the economy, under the aegis of National Association of Agricultural Journalists (NAAJ), have announced plans to honour major players in the agriculture sector for their contributions to the growth and development of the sector.


In a statement jointly signed by Stanley Ihedigbo, Chairman of NAAJ and Johnmark Ukoko, Chairman, Conference Planning Committee, the association also disclosed plans to inaugurate the Pan African Journalists (PAJ), an association of agricultural journalists in Africa, at its 2017 Annual Conference on 16 November 2017 in Lagos.

Journalists on the agriculture beat from Rwanda, Ghana, Gambia, South Africa, Somali, Kenya and few other African countries are expected at the event. NAAJ’s maiden conference which held last year was attended by agricultural journalists from Holland and Ghana.

Senator T.A. Orji, Vice Chairman Senate Committee on Agriculture who is also one of the awardees, will serve as the chairman the occasion, the statement said.

Other awardees include Dr. Audu Ogbeh, Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development; Alhaji Sani Dangote, Vice President, Dangote Group; Mr. Ade Adefeko, Vice President, Corporate and Government Relations; and Iyalode Alaba Lawson, NACCIMA President.

Also, Dr. Ikechi Kelechi Agbugba, an agro economist as well as Segun Awolowo, Director General of the Nigerian Export Promotion Council and Dr. Kayode Tayo Aregbe, Barrister Kuomoto, Mama Bakasi will be recognized during the event for their role in the emergence of a vibrant agriculture sector in the country.

Resource persons expected to speak at the conference include Mr. Olatunji Owoeye, MD/CEO of Elephant Group and Segun Awolowo and other eminent personalities.


The event will hold at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) exhibition centre, Marwa Garden, Alausa in Lagos.
