FG to build $20bn gas industrial park through PPP

As part of the effort to drastically diversify the economy and reduce imports, the Federal Government has said it will establish a gas industrial park valued at about $20 billion through a Public-Private Partnership model in the Niger Delta.

The project which will be known as ‘Gas Revolution Industrial Park, (GRIP)’ would serve as a regional hub for all gas-based industries in the country.

Mr. Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media and Publicity, who disclosed this in a statement on Monday in Abuja said GRIP was conceived from the recent interaction between the government and stakeholders in the Niger Delta.

The statement added that the 2,700 hectares GRIP has been designated as a tax free zone and will be host to fertilizer, methanol, petrochemicals and aluminium plants. The plark will be sited at Ogidigen in Delta State.


The statement quoted Osinbajo as saying the Buhari administration “is committed to the development of the Niger Delta, and the importance of this project is underlined by the presidential attention it is attracting. The presidency is very interested.”
