Over 100 IDPs children to benefit from Israeli scholarship in agric

More than 100 children among the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) will benefit from a plan by the Israeli Government to give scholarships to IDPs kids from Adamawa, Mr. Guy Feldman, the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria has said.

Feldman who disclosed this at the weekend while paying a courtesy visit to the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC) in Abuja said the embassy delegation had earlier met with Governor Bindo Jibrilla of Adamawa State to discuss agricultural projects that both parties can collaborate on, particularly ones that can be of benefit to children in the state.

He added that the embassy also organised a football league among the IDPs kids. “We celebrated our independence day but not as usual. We cancelled the celebration and took all the funds and organised a football league in Adamawa with kids from the IDPs camps.

“We are going to send hundreds of kids to school with scholarship. We talked about agriculture projects and get to the attention of the kids because they deserve a future. We should all invest in them,” Feldman said.

Mr. Gideon Behar, Special Israeli Envoy for Africa, remarked that a lot can be done in agriculture, food security, water, education, health and also economic development of the country between the two countries.

“We really want to strengthen the relationship between Nigeria and Israel. We are fully aware of the big challenges of Nigeria; we really love to be of assistance in these challenges,’’ he said.
