A team from the Federal Ministry of Finance is already in the state for the assessment exercise, in preparation for the payment of outstanding compensation to all affected poultry farmers in the state.

Shehu Bawa, Director, Veterinary Services, Kano State Ministry for Agriculture and Natural Resources, while speaking to reporters said the team will visit individual farms affected by the disease, with a view to ensuring that claims align with the ones in the reports earlier submitted to government.

Bawa added that the team would work with officials of the state’s agriculture ministry to ensure the success of the assignment.

He said after the verification exercise, the team will forward its report to the Federal Government for the payment of compensation to affected poultry farmers in the state.

Many poultry farms were closed down as a result of unsustainable operations following the outbreak of the disease in 2014 in the state.
